Now 12000 hits since launch.
12th March 2004
The AGM of The Green, ( all sections ), will take place on
31st March at 8pm.
It is important that as many members as possible from all sections
attend as this is YOUR CHANCE to have a say in the direction
that the club takes for the next 12 months.
As usual, a FREE DRINK should act as an extra incentive to get you there.
If you have any issues which you would like to raise prior to the meeting
then your committee representatives will be pleased to hear from you.
Following exertions at the gym over the last
few weeks, some of the more elderly members
were heard to comment that they were
“stiffer than they’d been for a long time” !
Jez needs confirmation of tour numbers as soon

venues for next year. Check out one of the front-runners here.
The search is over !!!
We’ve seen him bat, we’ve seen him bowl .. ( well sort of ), and now we’re going to see
if he can er… put out the flags, collect the tea money, toss a coin, fill out a team sheet,
do the scoring, spend lots of time in the long grass retrieving balls, sweep the changing rooms,
butter bread and tidy up the showers.
Yes… enter Cyril, the new 3rd’s Captain for the coming season. Gawd ‘elp ya mate !!!
Feeling Flabby – or just want to warm up ?
The Club has negotiated with a local fitness centre, a one hour group session
for Pre Season Fitness training at the Gym.
The cost is £3.00 per person and there are many places up for grabs.
The sessions will be on Wednesday nights 7:00 until 8:00.
To book your place or obtain further details ring Steve Metcalfe 07714159868.
(Steve Freeman is negotiating with St Johns First Aid to be available from 8:00pm
every Wednesday night outside the gym but it would appear that the cost will be prohibitive).
2004 Fixtures released.
The preliminary fixtures for senior and Colt’s games
are available here.
Remember Daniel Flynn ?
Those of you affluent enough to be able to afford Sky TV and
in particular the Sports Channels will no doubt be following
the escapades of the “former Green star” captaining New Zealand
in the Under 19’s World Cup.
Paupers amongst us may be content to keep up to date by

Good luck Dan – unless you come up against England of course!
All-weather strip planned for Newland !
Supreme effort by the committee has secured funds for the installation of a brand new
all-weather strip at The Green’s second home at Newland. With so many teams and so
many fixtures planned for the forthcoming season, this will prove to be an essential additon
to the club’s facilities. Thanks to everyone involved.

This is the FINAL date that tour bookings will be accepted.

A Date for the Diary……
We have organised a weekend at Trent Bridge, Saturday and Sunday, 14th and 15th
February. We are booked in to use their excellent facilities
for Saturday afternoon
and Sunday morning. This will be an excellent oppotunity for the club to get together
pre-season and as well as train, discuss what everyone wants out of this
forthcoming season and also bond at night-time in the bright lights of Nottingham,
(where the ladies out number the men 7 to 1 ).
The cost of this weekend including accommodation at Trent Bridge is £42.50
but travel there and back has not yet been organised. There are approximately
20 spaces although if the demand is high then we may be able to get hold of the organiser
who is very accommodating and see what he can do.
This is open to all club members who are serious about their cricket and
their own game, and places will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
£ 20 deposits or more information from Jez Clarke or Christopher Allen
SUNDAY 14th December – 7.30 prompt.
The Colts section AGM will take place at The Green on Sunday .
A short meeting will be held to discuss the coming season’s arrangments for the running of the Junior section.
We need, team managers, organisers, administrators and other helpers to enable the Barnards Green Colts section to continue to offer youngsters the very best in cricketing opportunities.
If you feel that you can help in any way at all then come along to the meeting.
All players, potential players and parents are welcome and we look forward to seeing you.
