Ombersley vs BGCC Sunday 2nds.

Ombersley Cricket Club was the venue for the Greens Sunday 2nds and despite heavy morning clouds, the rain stayed away and the game was on.  Batting first, Ombersley got off to a steady start reaching 43 before Damm fell LBW to Sam Daffin for 15. Opener Shaun White looked in commanding form and when he was dropped on 16 off Jamie Langmore this looked ominous, as it so proved. Park was the next to go LBW to Pete Daffin with the score on 91.  This signaled something of an onslaught as White stepped up a gear and regularly found the boundary whilst wickets tumbled at the other end. Andy Wheeler leapt like a salmon to pocket a catch off the impressive Farook Fiaz . Jack MacIntosh returned to dismiss White well caught by Wheeler, but not before he had completed a majestic 100. Two good run outs and three more wickets for Fiaz saw Ombersley dismissed for 170 which looked a slightly under par score on such a good batting wicket.  After a good tea, the Green sought to get off to a good start through Andy Wheeler and Jack MacIntosh.  Wheeler soon showed his intentions as he bullied the bowling dismissing anything short to the boundary and soon moved to 36 before he fell to a ball pitched up and was out LBW.  FIAZ joined Jack who was quietly compiling his innings and showing what an accomplished all rounder he has become.  Ombersleys attack was good and they conceded just five extras throughout the innings, but the Greens batsmen played patiently and pushed the ball around with some good running between the wickets as they moved towards the Ombersley total.  Both Jack (62 no) and Farook (69 no) completed maiden club fifties to see the Green home by 9 wickets with 7 overs to spare.  An excellent game played in the right spirit on a smashing ground and not a drop of rain in sight!
