Barnards Green Sunday 2nd XI vs Swindon

Barnards Green Sunday seconds entertained Swindon on a beautiful summers day with captain Wajzer contributing by going up to the 2nds and despite just 10 men, the Green recorded a win by 2 wickets with the last pair at the creese.  Choosing to bat, Swindon were soon in trouble as Chris Hill devastated the top order well supported by his fielders to finish his 9 overs with 5 for 30.  Young Shane Thompson struggled to get a consistant line but picked up an important wicket to finish with 1 for 8 and Jami Longmore removed the useful opener Price for 13.  The late order showed they were no mugs with the bat and despite some tight bowling took the score to 153 with Adam Price 2 for 25 and dave Price 1 for 18 eventualy clearing up the tail.

After an excellent tea Green openers Paul Yorke (14) and Jon Lewis (47) set about the bowling before Yorke was clean bowled.  Mat Higgs played the shot of the match, a glorious straight drive before being well caught off a full toss.  Dominic Horne and Dave Price soon perished and then skipper Robin Longmore and Chris Hill set about rebuilding the innings taking the score to 119 before Longmore misdirected a long hop and was out for 14.  jamie Longmore then crashed three boundaries in a whirlwind 12 leaving Hill agahst at the otehr end and when Adam Price was bowled first ball, things did not look good.  Shane Thompson pinched a single and then Hill destroyed the bowling and kept the strike with the winning runs coming courtesy of 5 wides.
