Worcester Nomads vs BGCC 2nd XI
|
|
Mareks Marauders took on the Nomads on a
warm dry day and on a track which played well despite the recent rainy
season. Batting first, the Green were put under early pressure by Nomads
bowler B.Raymond who produced a superb opening spell of 1-2 off four overs,
including Green opener Higgs in the third over. Fellow opener Simon Bell
built a fine half century with useful swashbuckling support from N.Rogers
(24). There was some excellent bowling and fielding by the Nomads academy
youngsters – including interesting left-arm chinamen bowled by young
J.Diamond – and the Green never got completely on top, losing wickets from
time to time. Once Bell finally perished for 57, skipper Marek Wadjer added
a crucial 24 runs before Dave Price (15 n.o.) and Dominic Horne (13 n.o.)
saw the Green into tea with a respectable if unspectacular total of 174-8. |
