Shock !
Horror !
Well it
had to happen. You know when you’ve arrived as a major sporting venue when you
get your
first
streaker. The hastily re-arranged match at Newland on Saturday afternoon saw an
unexpected
visitor
in the “shapely” shape of someone call
Letitia who apparently does this sort of thing
at
grounds all over the county as, “a bit of fun”. Hopefully I can get the photos
from our visiting supporter who
had his
camera with him. Fingers crossed !!
Now..
all those first and second team players requesting a transfer to the Casuals
and Singles
are
just going to have to wait to see if Northend Lane gets a visit too!
URGENT
– URGENT – URGENT
Next
Weekend – 8th May – is POSITIVELY the final date for payment of tour
deposits.
You need
to get £35 to Rich Brown BEFORE NEXT WEEKEND or you will not be going !!!!
Top Catch !!!!
Rob
Richards pulled off one of the most exciting catches seen at The Green for some
time
on
Sunday against Stratford. Diving up and to his left he clung on with both
hands.
Unfortunately
the camera was not rolling at the time, but we are able to supply footage
of
Rob’s expertise with the bat in another of our “Oops” moments
!
Sunday – 25th April
More
glorious sunshine promised for home and away matches against Chaddesley
Corbett.
Take
a camera and send in any interesting photos, or comments or gossip
for
publication on the website. Send it here.
Don't forget - have
your say in the open forum
Saturday – 24th April
Today
we welcome visitors from Stratford (at The Green) and
Fladbury
(at Newland) on what promises to be a beautiful day.
Both
grounds are looking in superb condition, reflecting the hours of work put in by
the
groundstaff and others. Northend Lane in particular looks better than it has at
this
time of
the season for many years. Today also gives everyone the chance to welcome
new
players both from overseas and closer to home.
Let’s hope we see some good cricket.
Match
starts at 1.30pm.
No Match Report last week ? Well…..in my personal opinion, it was all a little embarrassing. Let’s
put it down to a poorly prepared wicket.
TEAM NEWS.
Now that the Season is under way,

will be published on the website as

Check back regularly for the season’s Oops moments.

passed his test recently),

so badly that he was not
able to drive for several days.
He was very proud of his scar and West Mercia
Traffic Police sent a thank you card !!!
For more information and a VIVID description
of his scar send emails to …
HOTLIPS . Duncan, you are becoming something of a
celebrity.

13th April 2004
A new season starts.
Barnards Green Cricket Club look forward to the start of the new
season with two fixtures this weekend.
On saturday a mixed eleven of potential first team players looking
to secure a place in the first XI for the season
will visit Tewkesbury and are hoping for the weather to be kind to
them .
Skipper Chris Smedley will be looking for some good performances
from a team mixed with youth and experience
including a first XI debut for 14 year old Liam Paddock who shows
great promise for the future.
On Sunday, another mixed team will entertain Birlingham at North
End Lane which looks in tip top condition
thanks in the main to the efforts of Roy Mayo who has put in
countless hours of pre season preparation.
Remember to keep up to date with all of the seasons fixtures and results
And be sure to check the team sheets which will be
made available on the web-site every week.
If you have anything you would like to contribute to the website,
be it a match report, photographs
or
just amusing anecdotes about team and individual performances,
then email them to us and
we will do our best to find room. Please don’t send anything
derogatory as it will not be published.
