Ombersley vs BGCC 2nd XI

Sunday saw Barnards Green 2nds visit Ombersley on a hot and sticky afternoon.  Ombersley batted first and made a disastorous start against some tight Green bowling and at 24 for 4 off 16 overs things looked grim for the home team.  Kingsley Warren bowled a good tight line picking up 1 for 10 off his 7 overs and Anschuman returned creditable figures of 2 for 15 off his 9.  Jamie Longmore bowled Barrett with his first ball, but then Shuck and Haggar began to rebuild the innings.  Shuck was particularly brutal on anything short or overpitched but on 88 he was run out after some excellent work by Adam Price who patrolled the boundary conscientiously all afternoon.  Hagar then fell for 51 to Hill who got hot and flustered losing his usually impeccable line and Dave Price took a sharpe caught and bowled to dismiss White.  After 45 overs Ombersley finished on a creditable 202.
In reply, Dave Bayliss fell early on to White, but Justin McMillan and Mat Higgs batted sensibly to take the score to 65 before Higgs became Barretts first victim on 20.  Shuck bowled too short and was replaced and Jon Lewis had a flurry of boundaries before offering a return catch to Swift for 14.  McMillan then departed for 39 bringing young Adam Price in to join Anschuman.  These two carefully took the score along with Price punishing anything over pitched with one mighty six before being caught on the boundary edge for a fine 23.  Anschuman perished for 36 to the returning Shuck who also claimed Jamie Longmores prized wicket being well caught for 7.  It was then left to despotic skipper Marek Wajzer 18no and the erudite Dave Price 16 no to steer the Green home with 3 wickets and a couple of overs to spare for another fine win their seventh of the season.
