Barnards Green Sunday 2nd XI vs Worcester Nomads.

With summer showing signs of sunshine and warmth and a ground looking in glorious condition, Barnards Green sunday 2nds entertained Worcester Nomads academy team at North End Lane.  Invited to bat first, Nomads made a rapid start with skipper Taylor and young Woodchat despatching anything loose to the boundary on a lightening fast outfield.  With just 4 overs gone the scoreboard registered 40 and it looked like a long afternoon for the Green fielders before Anschuman stuck one in the blockhole to dismiss Woodchat (12) before a flurry of wickets saw Nomads in some trouble with Jamie Longmore picking up 2 wickets and Anschuman a 2nd after a sharp slipcatch by Robin Longmore to dismiss Goodwin.  Taylor then started to find his feet  and was well supported by Wooten who was then brilliantly caught off Dave Price by young Georgia Hennessey running in from the long off boundary.  Diamond (20) gave his skipper good support before he was smartly stumped by Dave Bayliss off Steve Hunts leggies.  O'Driscoll steadied the ship as Skipper Taylor reached an excellent ton before miss timing one to give Dave Price a 2nd wicket with a caught and bowled.  The intrduction of Georgia Hennessey curtailed the run rate and she then took a superb caught and bowled to dismiss the dangerous O'Driscoll for 31 and Anschuman wrapped up the innings with Nomads finishing on 208 on a superb batting track with Georgia Hennessey the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Chris Freeman and Rich Wall got the innings off to a sound start before Wooton had Freeman caught for 18 and two balls later produced a beauty to dismiss John Sherliker for a duck.  This brought Robin Longmore to the wicket after his century the previous weekend and looking confident from the start, Wall played several glorious drives through mid on before being bowled by Wilson to bring Anschuman to the crease. As the two new batsmen played themselves in the score started to increase and despite some good bowling froma young nomads attack, the green started to dominate with Anschuman punishing the short ball and Longmore draiving over the top to good effect.  This brought O'driscoll into the attack and he produced a beauty to dismiss Longmore for 77 and Anschuman followed shortly after bowled by Rio for 59.  It was left to skipper Marek Wajzer and Dave Price to see the Green hom to win by 5 wickets with 6 overs to spare. A most enjoayable game played in a good spirit with a future England player in Georgia Hennessey taking player of the match.
