Barnards Green Sunday 2nd XI vs Worcester CC

 

On a hot and sticky afternoon at North End Lane Barnards Green took had a side which was a mixture of youth and experience. It was new skipper Matt Brookes who won the toss and took use of the new ball knowing there had only been 200 runs scored on it the previous day. First into the attack was the inform sam spencer who bowled the best line and length this wicket had seen all weekend. Spencers first victim was M smyth ct behind by Ash Brewer. He then went on to batter the lower order with 3 fine catches from Phil Harris. At the other end it was kept tight by D Bell so worcester found it hard to get it away as spencer kept taking wicket after wicket. He finished with figuers of 9 overs 1 mdn 22 runs 7 wickets. Worcester finished on 89 all out with a top performance in the field by the green boys.

After a lovely tea as normal the green took to the challange of knocking of this short run chase wih openers T Clack 38no and M Shimell 19 got the green off to a good start, when Shimell was bowled by smyth. Clack then went on to score quickly with no support the other end the green went on to loose 3 more wickets P Harris 7 T Banks 2 and M Brookes 8. This brought kevin golder to the creese to secure the victory by 7 wickets lets hope this season carrys on the way it started and the green go on to win threre first sunday league title!!!
