Bewdley vs BGCC
Sunday 2nds.
Bewdley was the destination for Barnards Green Sunday 2nds first game
of the season and this beautiful little ground is always a favourite amongst
the Green players, not least for the excellent teas provided! Batting
first, the Green got off to a stuttering start losing five wickets with just
40 runs on the board. Skipper Marek Wajzer joined all rounder Anschuman
(61) and these two took the score beyond the 100 mark before Wajzer was
caught for 18. James Marsh then helped Anschuman with a fine 24 not out
before Anschuman was stumped going for the big hit for an excellent 61 and
the Green finished on a very respectable 172. A sublime tea left many of
the Green players ruing the fact that they now had to field, but opening
bowlers Jack Macintosh and James Martin bowed a tight spell with Marsh
bowling Twaites for 6 before the introduction of Jamie Longmore saw Robinson
caught by Louis Loader for 17. Franklin and Wilson then put together a
partnership, but the introduction of Steve Alamutu saw both dispatched to
the pavilion closely followed by two more batsmen leaving Bewdley reeling.
A run out saw the dangerous Laverty dismissed before Anschuman was
unleashed into the attack and round up the innings with the final two
wickets including a very smart stumping by 13 year old Jack Dickenson who
shows great promise behind the stumps. Bewdley finished on 147 to give the
Green victory by 25 runs. Special mention has to be made for some brilliant
fielding by debutant Sam Harris who may ultimately have been the difference
between the Green winning and losing! |
