13th July 2003 Barnards Green Casuals vs Redbat |

The Green
got off to a shakey reply as Tom Wells was caught in the third over. skipper
Robin Longmore then joined Dave Bayliss, back after a lengthy injury absence
and these two took the score to 83 before Bayliss was bowled for a solid
20. Robin was particularly savage on anything overpitched with 5 sixes including
one onto the tea lady’s parents car bonnet (new tea lady required I suppose).
Sam Spencer held up his end well as Longmore continued his onslaught before
being caught behind for 70. The Green then faltered somewhat as the run
rate increased to 10 an over, but Phil Spencer took control and aided by some
sensible batting from Rob Harker, he saw the Green home with three balls to
spare. Gerald wadley, guesting for Redbats, bowled an excellent spell of 2
for 25 off his 8 overs. |
