|Feckenham vs BGCC Sunday 2nd XI|
On Sunday the 13th July BGCC 1st XI travelled to Feckenham in hope of continuing their winning ways after losing only twice this season including to Swindon last time out.
The strong as ever away side hoped for a competitive game finding out that Feckenham were also fielding 8 Saturday 1st XI players.
Skipper Matt Brookes called correctly and decide to ask the home side to make use of a track that had been subject to the previous days rain.
This looked to be a good decision as Sam Spencer (9 overs 2 for 12) sent the opening batsman Kings packing in the first over thanks to a smart catch in the covers by Paddock.
With the track offering assistance to the attack of Spencer & Australian import Shimmell Feckenham found it extremely hard going, although the score moved along at around the same rate as the overs Feckenham batted sensibly and kept their wickets in tact at the half way stage Feckenham were 70 for 2.
Brookes set his field with care and took the opportunity to introduce youngster Banks to the attack whose line although slightly wobbly to start with adjusted nicely and bowled his 6 overs at little expense.
Meanwhile at the other end Off spinner Andy Ford started what was to be a spell to remember. Ford mixed up his flight pace and length to extreme effect starting with two maidens he then took a wicket every other over for 4 overs getting rid of the top order in his 7th over ford removed 2 Feckenham batsmen in 2 balls thanks to two more smart catches by Paddock this time at first slip.
With the bat surrounded by catching fielders Feckenhams wicket keeper strode out to the middle a tense moment was felt by all as the catching corden was completed by Spencer as he encroached on the wicket breathing on the potential hat trick victim.
Ford flighted the delivery superbly tempting the new batsman down the track who was determined to get to the pitch and not let it spin, he failed to do so and the ball passed the outside edge leaving 14 year old up and coming keeper Ashlea Brewer to whip the bails off and complete Fords Hat Trick and 5 wicket haul.
Feckenham were now in deep trouble and only Perrins showed any resistance as he made a respectable 40 as Feckenham were finally bowled out in the penultimate over for 126.
With a low total required Brookes took the opportunity to blood two youngsters at the top of the order Tom Clack and Tom Banks started cautiously on a wicket that still had a lot to offer especially when exploited by the experience of Reddish and overseas Scammell.
Banks fell early Bowled by the experienced opener and Tim Clarke joined Clack, together they rode their luck and were both fortunate to be bowled off no balls however they played positively and slashed hard which to their credit paid off.
Clarke was eventually caught for a workman like 60 and clack fell for 33 leaving Paddock and Man of the Match Andy Roy Ford to see the green home by 8 wickets in just the 22nd over.
(Ford 9 overs 5 for 12 including hatrick )
