Barnards Green Sunday 2nd XI vs Bromsgrove.

Barnards Green 2nd Eleven entertained Bromsgrove on a muggy Sunday afternoon. The Green lost the toss and were put into bat with a weakened batting line up. Bromsgrove got off to a decent start, removing both Horne and Anshuman cheaply. Justin McMillan looked to be doing a good job as a makeshift opener until he was run out for 16. Roger Thompson (18) and Robin Longmore (22) pushed the score along, both hitting some big sixes before being bowled. Skipper Marek Wajzer(9) was unlucky to see his usually solid defence beaten, meaning it was up to Graham Spiers (38) and Dave Price (13) to get the Green to a respectable score, the former hitting a string of boundaries including a big six into the car park. Adam Price supported the tail well and refused to give his wicket away, helping Barnards Green to a score of 168 all out after 40 overs.

After a superb tea, opening bowlers Bartlett and Anshuman both bowled very economically with the latter removing opener Hope. First change Jamie Longmore bowled a good line and length and capitalised on some variable bounce in the wicket, bowling Thurbon and Miller and finishing on 3-26 off 9 thanks to a sharp slip catch from his Dad Robin. Roger Thompson bowled at a good pace and got into a lovely rhythm which saw him take his first 5 wicket haul for the club, going for just 22 runs and was assisted by some useful catches from the impressive Dominic Horne who was wicketkeeper for the day. Bromsgrove were all out for 132, giving Barnards Green a well deserved 36 run victory.
