BGCC Sunday 2nd XI vs Feckenham

Barnards Green 2nd XI gave a convincing all round performance last Sunday in a game which saw them beat Feckenham by 9 wickets. Fielding first the Green struggled slightly to begin with, both James Scullion and Jamie Plant unable to dislodge the opening pair. The introduction of Anshuman and the talented all rounder Ian Bryant slowed things down significantly and the dangerous Bryant soon showed Page (41) what happens when he gets hit for six, the stumps get destroyed. S. Haines (14) was next to feel the wrath of Bryant as off stump cartwheeled away, before Plant took a high catch, leaving Bryant with 3-29 off his 9 overs. Jamie Longmore was then entered into the attack, bowling with venom and immediately caused the batsmen all sorts of problems. Longmore was unlucky not to take a wicket, clipping off stump but not removing the bail, only 22 streaky runs were conceded from his 9 overs however. Overseas pace man Marek Wajzer bowled from the other end, taking the wicket of the steady Daniels (26) who was well caught by Hill. J. Haines foolishly dared to take on the mighty arm of Longmore from the boundary and was run out after a superb throw to keeper Nick Rogers. Scullion came back on at the end to bowl a tight spell and clean bowled Blackshaw. A good all round fielding performance, including Dave Marshall and Robin Longmore, who unfortunately had little else to do, left Feckenham on 167 for 6 after 45 overs.
The Green got off to a solid start with Simon Cooke and the evergreen Chris Hill both keeping the scoreboard ticking. Despite giving a few chances, both batsmen went on to score 50's, hitting boundaries all around the ground. Page left it too late to rewrite the story when he claimed Cooke LBW for 55. Rogers (19no) came in and played a sensible innings to help see the Green home. Hill finished on an impressive 59 not out.
