Barnt Green vs BGCC Sunday 2nd XI

Barnt Green won the toss and decided to bat first on a very firm and flat looking wicket. D Lamb got the innings off to a flyer by scoring 31 by hitting the ball very hard straight. Anshuman pegged Barnt back with 3 wickets.

Cullen (42) and Brownhill (56) then set about rebuilding the innings, both their innings contained very positive running and hitting boundaries. With both players going with overs spare, the rest of the middle order was left to build the scoring rate. Sherliker (3 for 46) and Scullion (1 for 41) bowled very well at the end to restrict Barnt Green to 205 from 40 overs.

After an excellent tea, Sherliker and Hunt opened the batting with confidence to chase the target down. However with the loss of Hunt and Wheeler in quick succession, the Green needed to rely on a mixture of youth and experience in the middle order. Rich Wall batted well for 14, but with Wall, Freeman (3), Anshuman (5), and Wajzer (18) all being removed, it was left to Sherliker to try and win the game on his own. John batted superbly with a mixture of great running and fierce boundary hits, was unlucky to be bowled for an excellent 97.

Once Sherliker was removed, Barnards Green innings finished soon after being 158 all out.
