BGCC Sunday Seconds vs Stourbridge On
sunday Barnards Green 2nds entertained Stourbridge on a sweltering hot day
and despite winning the toss, skipper Marek Wajzer decided his troops needed
a run out in the field. Chris Hill and Ian Badsey toiled away in the early
overs and despite finding the right areas, had little success. Legspinner
Justin McMillan was introduced to the attack and soon picked up a wicket as
the openers looked to force the pace. It was clear that this was a wicket
for the slow bowlers and so Robin Longmore was introduced to follow his son
Jamie who bowled tidily with little success. Robins lack of pace and
tenacious flight soon troubled the batsmen and despite some sluggish
fielding by the weary younger members of the team, he picked up a couple of
useful wickets. Dave Price was unlucky to drop a dolly off his own bowling
and then showed his circus credentials as he dropped one on the boundary
which went for six, but Chris Hill was introduced and mopped up the tail
leaving the Green 245 to chase on top of a sumptuous tea. |
