Barnards Green Casuals

vs Colwall

On Sunday,Barnards Green Sunday Casuals entertained a Colwall development team in an entertaining 40 over encounter.  Batting first Colwall made a positive start through youngsters C.Elsden(14) and R.Dovey (23).  The introduction of Emily Price and father Dave then slowed down the scoring rate and Emily had Dovey well caught and took an excellent return catch to dismiss the dangerous Thornton.  Another youngster in the form of J Shepherd then took charge and was well supported by M.Rhods and skipper Tim Riley before he was bowled by the impressive Patrick Jelley for an excellent 62.   Dave Price bowled Elsden and Rhods and  Sam Spencer returned to clear up the tail as Colwall ended their innings on 185, a fine effort from some up and coming youngsters.
In reply, despite some useful bowling early on from J.Hylands, Elsden and Mat Berry, openers Kevin Golder and Rob Tyler batted sensibly despatching anything off line and they saw the Green home without loss.  This saw a welcome return to the club for Kevin whose awesome talent has been missed at the club this season and he finished on 102 no.  It also saw young Rob Tyler bring up his first senior 50 for the Green and there will no doubt be many more to come.  An enjoable game from which both teams can take heart that there are some useful youngsters coming through into senior level cricket.
Many thanks to match day sponsors Cods Kitchen of Barnards Green.  The Green have no sunday fixtures next week as they have a squad of 38 off on tour to South Devon.
