Barnards Green Sunday 1st XI vs Bewdley
With many players unavailable for the green including Skipper and Vice Skipper it was left to Jez Clarke to round up 11 players last minute on Sunday Morning. After reacquainting ourselves with ex green player Jono Boult the Toss was made and the Green we inserted on a firm looking track. Liam Paddock & Jack Wheeler started well for the Green finding the boundary frequently whilst rotating the strike not so, Paddock was the first to fall for a robotic but clinical (20) with the score on 88 swiftly followed by Wheeler who tried to put Jono out of the ground one too many times for a more agricultural but effective 48. Aussie Mc Card and Stand in skipper Jez Clarke now had to re build, until The Bewdley overseas came out on top fooling Mc Card with his slower delivery. With an extensive amount of Bowling in the Green line up the tail was somewhat larger than usual but thankfully had a substantial amount of wag, The Green found themselves going from 88-0 to 140 for 5 with only half of the overs gone! During This Time Skipper Clarke lost all remaining batsmen of note around him including in form youngsters Clack (4) and Harris (4) Clarke now partnered by stand in all rounder Marc Jones put a valuable partnership together making sure they kept their wickets in tact and put away the bad ball, Jones worked hard to get Clarke on strike who was severe an anything too short or too wide as he passed 50 the green looked to be back on track for a substantial total. As the overs ticked away the pair took more risks and Jones fell for a invaluable 16 Scullion was next to fall for just one and Clarke had to start again this time with G Spiers they again worked the bowling around before Clarke eventually fell in the 35th over for a hard earned 87 including 2 6’s and 11 4’s with 10 overs remaining it was doubtful the green would make the most of there allotted overs but Spiers (33) and Bell (16) had other ideas taking the score to an excellent 304 at the close. With the average age of the green side just over 22 the young bowlers were brimming with energy and all anxious to get their hands on the ball. Veteran Spiers opened with youngster Spencer and soon realised that Bewdley were going for it from the start, A Halkon who was the only batsman to contribute (32) who put the new ball to the boundary with ease for the first couple of overs until the opening pair found their range. Both bowled well for little reward Spiers (7-0-33-1) and Spencer (6-0-32-0) With lots of bowling available short stints were seen at the start and Bell & Harris replaced the openers to great effect Bell (9-3-23-3) was the pick of the bowling along with his partner Harris (5-0-2-27) who found himself on a Hat rick ball after a smart caught behind thanks to the Australian Keeper and clean bowling Oldnall. When Bell sent Boult pack to the pavilion clean bowled for only 9 the game looked to be the Greens. This was to be the case 8 down and only 1 wicket left for victory due to an injury caused to the keeper in the first innings Tom Clack came on and did the necessary dismissing Bewdley for just 126 in the 30th Over.
Green Won by 178 Runs rounding off an excellent weekend for the Club!

Bewdley vs Barnards Green 2nd XIThe Green batted first getting 177 off their 45 overs. It would have been far fewer had not the amazing DCP, Dom and The Ferret smashed the ball all over the park! Bewdley batted. Marek dropped a sitter. PC 49 decided to set the field to avoid embarassment. Bewdley whacked the medium pace bowlers but couldn't touch the slow old boys. They got 171 for 9. Good stuff from Anshu, Shirley and The Webmaster. Good Game, Good Opposition, Good Spirit. May we have many more. ps.... a more formal match report can be found on the Gazzette website.
