BGCC Sunday 2nd vs Kidderminster
On the hottest day of the year so far, Barnards Green entertained Kidderminster for this Fearnley Worcestershire Sunday League 2nd XI fixture. The Green were buoyed by Skipper Wajzer winning the toss and electing to bat on a good looking pitch, bright sun shining and very quick looking outfield all round the ground.

Bayliss (2), Yorke (0) and Brewer (8) all went early, but Duncan Bell (48) and Kevin Golder rebuilt the innings with excellent running and clean boundary hitting. They put on 90 run partnership before Bell was dismissed

This left Golder to continue his innings with Anshuman (19), Wajzer (5), Freeman (0) and Longmore (0 not out) as support. He reached his 100 with a glorious 6 and ended 114 not out

With Kidderminster bowling 23 wides, the Green were pleased to have posted an acceptable score of 242 from their 40 overs

With Anshuman taking a wicket in the first over and then Longmore picking up the other opener not long after, Kidderminster were hoping for Mitchell and Amos to score the majority of their runs. With Mitchell being removed for 75 by a good low catch by Chris Freeman and Amos being caught by flight attendant Paula Yorke for 27, Kidderminster’s hopes of reaching the total were quickly disappearing

It was left to Steve Hunt (2 for 17), Dan Hunt (2 for 37) and Bell (2 for 15) to bowl the final overs, reducing Kidderminster to 170 for 8 from their 40 overs. This was a very impressive win for the seconds, who clocked up their first ever win against Kidderminster Sunday 2nd XI since the Sunday league began
