The bank
holiday
weekend saw
Barnards
Green second
eleven visit
Colwall CC
on the
Saturday and
entertain
Droitwich CC
on the
Monday.
On a damp
Saturday the
side
travelled
the short
distance to
Colwall
where a
youthful
side did
what they do
best. The
Green bowled
first and
squeezed
Colwall dry
on a wet
outfield
bowling them
out for just
154 runs.
Classy
off-spinner
Lewis Hooper
(15-2-58-4)
was the pick
of the
bowlers. The
excellent
fielding
performance
from Ryan
Scullion,
Jack Cullity
and Louis
Loader was
most
impressive
also.
In response
to this
skipper Judd
Doughty
grafted hard
for 73* and
Tom Clack
worked hard
for 42* to
seal a well
earned
victory. Tim
Clarke
chipped in
with a
bright and
breezy 27
from number
3 too.
On the
Monday an
even younger
Green side
restricted a
depleted
Droitwich
side to just
188 runs on
a wicket and
outfield
worth 260
runs at
least. The
Scullion-trio
was most
impressive
(a combined
analysis of
26-4-99-6),
especially
in
partnership
with an
inspired
Ashlea
Brewer whose
keeping was
magnificent,
especially
when
hounding the
batsmen up
to the
stumps.
In reply the
innings
stuttered
and stalled
until the
lower-middle-order
of Brewer
28, Dave
White 27,
Clack 24 and
James
Scullion
41*secured
another 20
point
victory.
Well done
lads – a 40
point bank
holiday
weekend when
other teams
struggled to
maked double
figures over
the two
games!
