July 11th 2005 – second team knockout final.

This final was played in exceptionaly hot conditions on the evening of another glorious July day. Host club for the final were Ombersley.

Barnards Green won the toss and elected to field. This decision was vindicated when opening bowlers Sam Spencer and Lewis Hooper reduced Claverley to 68 for 5 off 8 overs. Only Imttiaz (34) and Ibrar (19) showed any resistance to the young Green attack. The innings was brought to an end with the total at 123, Duncan Bell finishing with 3 for 22 after mopping up the tail.

Liam Paddock and James Curtis set about the reply with an opening partnership of 35 before Curtis was caught behind in the 4th over. Mark Hooper Joined Paddock and together took the score to 86 before Hooper was out for 35 in the 8th over. Paddock went soon after for 28 bringing together  old-timers Steve Bevan and Steve Metcalfe. These two took The Green close to victory before Bevan played on for 14. This only enabled young Lewis Hooper to come to the wicket to hit the winning runs. Best bowler for Claverley was Ibrar who took 3 for 29 off his 4 overs. Barnards Green ran out  winners by 6 wickets with nearly three overs to spare.

Thanks to the competition sponsors, Ombersley Cricket Club and the numerous spectators who gave splendid support to both sides.
