Helmets for Under 18s
Further news on the issue of young players is that from 2007 any player under 18 years of age
batting or standing up when wicket keeping MUST wear a helmet and the ECB has now come out
and said that the parental consents previously used are NO LONGER to be accepted by clubs.
This fact has come to light since the league team sheets were printed for the season.

Also, if a young player acts as a runner, he must wear a helmet even if the adult player he is acting for is NOT wearing one.

Unlucky Dan
Congratulations to ex-Green player Dan Flynn on his selection for the New Zealand game against England recently.
For those who might have missed Dan's brief outing with the bat  ....
if it's any consolation Flynnie it would have been over the garages at The Green! We'll always take you back if you want to play at a decent standard again.

Read report......

State Northern Knights all-rounder Daniel Flynn has been whisked into the BLACKCAPS side as a replacement for the injured Jacob Oram for the second National Bank Twenty20 against England at AMI Stadium, Christchurch. The 22-year-old left-hand batsman and left-arm spinner has been an in-form player for the Knights in all aspects of the game all season.Flynn, who captained the New Zealand Under-19 side to the Youth World Cup in Bangladesh in 2004, averages over 40 in one-day games this season and over 50 in first-class matches. He raised that 50-over average with a career-best 149 against Canterbury Wizards in the State Shield just hours before his call-up.Sir Richard Hadlee, selection manager for the BLACKCAPS, felt Flynn's innings indicated his explosive power where he hit the ball both to and over the boundary.
"This is a great opportunity to introduce another exciting young player into the BLACKCAPS squad,” he said.“His innings today was at better than run-a-ball and as a left-hander he will fit beautifully into our middle order at No. 6 or 7," he said.

Congratulations to the 1st XI on being promoted to the 1st Division as champions.
