Barnards Green Cricket Club
recently celebrated 75 years of providing cricket to everyone. "The Green" could not
have achieved the recognition they have as one of the premiere clubs in the Midlands area
without the tireless efforts of a string of volunteers who remain largely anonymous. Every club
needs members who quietly get on with the job of making sure that when the players turn up
on Saturday afternoon they don't have to worry about the little details that make playing at The
Green a pleasure. The Green recognise the efforts of those people who "quietly get
on with it". You know who you are. Thanks to you all.
Fresh from the boxing day celebrations and with one or two hangovers still in evidence, members
and their guests greeted the new year in style with dancing, music from Sossidge Rob's boys (After Dark)
and more food than could be healthily consumed. Again huge thanks are due to June and her staff for
making the night so enjoyable.
There are plenty more live music events planned for 2012 so please keep an eye on the website. If you
would like us to inform you directly of forthcoming events then just let us have a note of your email address
and we will get you onto our mailing list.
The Annual Senior Citizen's Party
on Wednesday was attended by some 120 guests. As usual the event took a huge amount of organising
and thanks are due to June, her staff, the entertainers, the committee, the caterers and those volunteers
who gratefully gave up their time to make the evening such a great success.
Forthcoming Event - Get your last minute presents....
On Friday 16th December between 7.30 & 9.00pm the club will be getting a visit from a local gift
company when members will have the chance to purchase presents for Christmas and other occasions
together with gift wrapping and other gift essentials. Full details here.
In case you are not aware we have our own "webshop" which has recently been re-launched
and we are looking to promote this as an ongoing means of raising money for The Green.
The likes of AMAZON have joined, making our webshop a very attractive proposition when shopping
online and there are also regular competitions.
Everything you buy earns the club a commission yet you pay the same price as if you had gone
directly to the retailers own website.
So please take a look at who is on there and remember to make sure that any purchases you make
are completed via the link to our "online store" so that we get the commission. Thanks.
