A special appeal from and on behalf of some of our cricketing friends.
Mark Jasper was captain of Cadets CC in Tauranga, New Zealand, the home of Dan Flynn, Jono Boult and Andrew Hoogstraten,
all of whom have played for The Green. Mark now lives in the UK and plays his cricket in the Devon League for Sidmouth.
In August 2009 Mark was diagnosed with a stage IV melanoma on his liver.
The chances of a full recovery are very unlikely. To potentially prolong his life and improve his health Mark is currently undertaking a clinical trial.
This trial is very expensive, (in the region of £30000 just for the trial in addition to other costs of travel etc).
The Mark Jasper Foundation has been established to help to fund this trial hopefully helping Mark and others in a similar predicament.
Mark unfortunately was first diagnosed with this cancer as a skin melanoma linked to his playing cricket without adequate sunscreen/hat etc.
To raise awareness and raise money cricket clubs and leagues across the UK are being asked for help.
Mark is a fantastic guy who helped give me and a number of other English lads the chance to play some great cricket in New Zealand.
Cadets CC have great links to the local cricket community.
In addition to other ventures a prize draw has been organised with some fantastic prizes
