BGCC under 10s vs Hanley and Upton - May 27th 2012

Having lost in a close encounter the previous week, Hanley Castle and Upton under 10's were looking to change the result this week on a hot Sunday morning at the picturesque Newland ground.  Batting first, Barnards Green were soon in trouble as first pair Phil Banks and John Hume both lost wickets in the first over to the accurate O.Potts, but recovered the situation as they moved to 209 after their four overs.  Second pair Josh Dickenson (15) and debutante Dominic Higgs moved the score on to 224, but some good bowling and fielding saw three wickets fall with Potts picking up his second and D Bayley picking up one.  Zak Shervigton and Lewis Regan both playing their first hard ball games batted sensibly and lost just the one wicket to E.Witton whilst taking the score to 235, but last pair of Issac Oakley (19) and Ryan Layland moved the final score on to 249 despite two run outs.  In reply, Hanley got off to an excellent start with the first two pairs F. Henry-White and O.Potts then D.Lee and O.Hunter moving the score nicely to 228 after 8 overs.  Phil Banks then took the first Hanley wicket and a devastating over from Ryan Lakeland saw three wickets fall as the Hanley score fell to 215.  Last pair E Whitton and D Williams battled bravely to move the score to 231, but accurate bowling from the Green bowlers gave little away and the Green ran home winners by 18 runs.  Issac Oakley and Josh Dickenson both bowled their three overs without conceding a run or giving away any wides, quite a feat at this level of cricket.
