BGCC under 10s vs Rushwick

On a glorious Sunday morning with the Newland ground looking a treat with the Hills in the background, Barnards Green U10s welcomed Rushwick.  On winning the toss Ryan Scullion elected to bat first.  The Green were off to a bad start when Joe Churchill was bowled twice.  However Max Howie showed good determination and technique and the pair managed to get to 203 after 4 overs.   Russell Burford confidently marched to the wicket and played a range of attractive strokes while partner Seb Timmermans ran well and not losing a wicket took the score over 220.  Ryan Scullion (despite being bowled early on) played some hard hitting shots and he and Ewen Wilson continued the good work as the Green started to build a useful total.  Final pair of Chris Shuard and Tom Busher ran very well and managed to take the score to 240.  A reasonable total but a little less than the Green had aimed for.  Knowing they would have to bowl and field well to win the Green started superbly.  Scullion and Timmermans (the left arm opening combination) steamed in and were both rewarded with early wickets.  Chris Shuard then had a direct hit run out, after a very sharp piece of fielding.  All the Green bowlers bowled with great accuracy and Scullion juggled his bowlers superbly.  Rushwick never really threatened the Greens total and closed on 208.  Man of the match goes to top scorer Chris Shuard, who also bowled 2 very tight overs and fielded very well.  The Green go into their final U10 game vs Pershore with a 50% record having won 2 and lost 2.
