BGCC under 10s vs Worcester Dominies 19th May 2013

Dominies won the toss and asked The Green to bat first. Some excellent bowling by Freeman and Roberts meant that the first four overs, faced by George Blannin and Elliot Perkins resulted in no addition to the scoreboard. Roberts would go on to be the pick of the Dominies bowlers finishing with 3 overs for 1 run. Jack Samson continued his fine form with the bat hitting three fours whilst his partner Brad Mathews played some sublime shots off his legs as they put on 23 runs for the second pair.Owen Throup and Dominic Higgs found scoring difficult but some loose bowling helped The Green to a total of 238 after 12 overs. The final pairing of Lewis Regan and Spike Burnage got the scoreboard ticking over again but too many quick singles were missed for The Green to post a challenging total as they finished on 248 for just 2 wickets.

Tariq and Ali opened the batting for Dominies and this pair put 211 on the board despite losing one wicket and George Blannin bowling an impressive maiden. With Holland and Morris pegged back by some excellent bowling and another maiden this time from Jack Samson, the match was turning into a tight contest and Dominies reached the halfway point of their innings precisely on target. With a series of extras starting to creep into the match Roberts and Olni batted sensibly without loss to take Dominies to within 6 of their opponent’s score with four overs to go and all the final pairing of Freeman and Davies needed to do was preserve their wickets and pick up a few singles in order to win. Dominies achieved their objective in the 15th over and, with The Green unable to find a vital second wicket the visitors ran out worthy winners of this very competitive match with a total of 254 runs.

Thanks to both teams for another enjoyable morning’s cricket.
