Under 10s vs Worcester

Barnards Green under 10's finally got their season under way on Sunday when they entertained Worcester A at North End Lane in an eight a side pairs game. The Green got off to a solid start with openers Oliver Halliion and Ben MacIntosh batting sensibly taking the score to 218 after their four overs.  Second pair John Hume and Issac Oakley had a sticky start losing two wickets, but Oakley showed his potential with a positive 16 including a six to take the Green to 235 after 8 overs.  Phil Banks and Harris Forsythe took no risks and moved the score on to 250 before final pair Spike Burnage and Stan Price-Ayers found runs hard to come by as Worcester made a good come back with Sam Blundell picking up three wickets in the final over to leave the Green on 241 after their 16 overs.  The Worcester lads stuck to their task well and showed great enthusiasm.

In reply, Worcester struggled to overcome some tight Green bowling losing four wickets in the first three overs with accurate bowling from the Green attack with wickets from Oakley, Banks and skipper Ollie Hallion.  The second pair of Bubler and Jones consolidated despite one run out, a great throw from Oakley on the boundary, and this pair took the score back to 200.  However, Phil banks produced another excellent over taking two wickets with Ben MacIntosh picking up one to reduce Worcester to 196.  The final pair of Thomas and Hurshfield always had a tough ask and despite a valiant effort, Oakley picked up his second wicket as did Hallion along with a run out which left Worcester on 194 and 47 runs short of their target.  Stan Price-Ayers showed good potential on his first outing behind the stumps.  A good game played in the right spirit without a drop of rain falling!
