BGCC under 11s - vs Droitwich 7th June 2013

An eventful match at Droitwich was notable for a large opening partnership, slow over rates, and  a tight finish which saw the home side seal a win in the twilight with 2 balls to spare. Only three wickets fell in the game, one of which was a run out!

Green skipper Ben Sutton won the toss and opened the batting with Josh Dickenson. The pair, usually known for their bowling partnership, put on 90, batting fluently throughout, although both found it difficult to up the scoring rate towards the end of their innings when they reached 30 and retired. Lewis Regan and Jack Sampson pushed the score to 107 without loss at the end of the 20 overs. Despite the efforts of the umpires the fielding side took nearly 90 minutes to bowl the overs which meant that a late finish was inevitable.

All the Green bowlers bowled tidily, but none were able to deliver a decisive spell and the home side kept up with the run rate throughout. The Green's fielding was below it's normal standards and this kept Droitwich in the game as they took risks against accurate bowling from Dickenson, Ed Wajzer, George Blannin, Ben Sutton and Jon Hume. Droitwich scored the winning runs in the last over as the light faded.
