BGCC under 12s vs Malvern Ramblers

Barnards Green Under 12s secured a first ever win by defeating local rivals Malvern Ramblers by 6 wickets.

Ramblers won the toss and elected to bat. Skipper Jack Le Gros bowled Saduiqui with the first ball of the innings and Richardson had the Ramblers nought for 2 at the end of the second over. Freeman came on to bowl the fifth over and he clean bowled Burton to leave the Ramblers 5 for 3. Ramblers Roskams sought to survive the early pressure and found an ally in Davis. The pair took the score to 50 in the seventeenth over with Roskams seizing onto anything wayward. Chris Bridges dismissed Roskams for 26 when Howie took a fine caught behind. Ramblers were restricted to 57 due to this fine bowling and fielding display Freeman (2-7), Richardson (1-5) and LeGros (1-8) all off four overs each being the pick of the bowlers.

The Green reply was pleasing to the eye as both openers were watchful in defence and not afraid to play shots when the ball was there to be struck. Aston Kerr displaying more maturity at the crease struck two boundaries in the second over to ease the score along whilst James Herd elegantly stroked the ball as the pair put on 28 runs until Herd hit wicket. Kyte and Kerr continued to score well but two wickets in an over put the brakes on. Firstly Kyte was bowled and then Kerr run out for a splendid 16. Puffett hit a rapid five before being caught and bowled. Skipper LeGros strode to the wicket and crashed a quickfire 11 to give his side victory by six wickets with 8 overs to spare.
