Barnards Green Sunday 2nd XI vs Bromsgrove

On Sunday Barnards Green 2nds entertained Bromsgrove on the first real summers afternoon of the season.  Batting first, Bromsgrove soon lost Green well caught by Phil Harris off Ian Bryant.  Justin McMillan then took two wickets with his leg spin mixing some excellent balls with some four balls, but then opener Clarke was joined by German and these two built a useful partnership to take the score to 145 before Jamie Longmore bowled Clarke for 38 and then removed Jones to finish with 2 for 19. Chris Hill also chipped in with three wickets, 2 LBW's including that of German for 65 and skipper Andy Lamb brought himself on to remove tailender Page with a diving catch off his own bowling which measured 4.2 on the richter scale.  Bromsgroves innings finished in the last over on 203 aided by some poor fielding.

In response, The Green soon lost Derek Goodman and Andy Hoddy, both caught, but Chris Hill joined Jon Lewis and these two batted solidly to build a useful partnership before Hill was dismissed for 49.  Young Phil Harris then joined Lewis and it appeared that these two would see the Green home with Harris hitting a huge straight six and batting extremely well.  Lewis showed great patience before being bowled for 46.  Harris was also bowled for 23 and this brought Dave Price and Marek Wajzer together in a partnership dopminated by Price who having been dropped first ball, then proceeded to smash the ball all over the ground before being bowled for a whirlwind 35.  Marek Wajzer then took the senior role and along with Justin McMillan saw the Green home by 3 wickets with 5 overs to spare.  Many thanks to groundsman Roy Mayo for another good track and to match day sponsors Stephen watkins Scool of Pianoforte.  Next week Barnt Green are the opposition.
