Barnards Green Casuals vs RedBatsg in a winning dr Barnards Green Singles v aw for Barnard Barnards Green Singles v Green

Sunday saw Newland casuals entertain the touring Redbats in a 40 over freindly which as ever was played in a good spirit.  batting first, redbats got off to a solid start with jamie Longmore unable to find a line or length, but ian Bryant plugging away and eventually dismissing opener Harry well caught by stand in keeper Lee dyment for 20.  Bryant then dismissed O'Connor for 2 to finish with 2 for 16 off 8.  Jon Lewis and dave price were introduced and price found a good tight line to finish with 2 for 19 off 9. Andy Hoddy carried on the good work and returned excellent figures of 1 for 12 off 8 and Redbats struggled to get to grips with the bowling.  Skipper Lee then opened his shoulders and the return of longmore saw a couple of big sixes before Longmore bowled Lee and redbats finished on 135 off their 40 overs.

In reply, Newland got off to a solid start with Roy Mayo rolling back the years caressing the ball around the ground whilst Dave knapper took the aggressive route before being bowled by the impressive Lee who finished with 5 for 20.  Jez Clarke then showed his quality before falling plumb LBW to Pott, but not before he had run out his partner Mayo for 41.  Jon Lewis and Lee Dyment then took the score to 114 but when Jon played over a full length ball, an element of panic set in as Newland lost four wickets in quick succession with Andy Lamb, Marek Wajzer and jamie Longmore using up very little ink. It was left to Lee and Dave Price to see the team home by 3 wickets, with Price anxious to get to the bar.  Many thanks to match day sponsor John Pugh Hairdressers
